Join us on September 24th, 2022, for what we hope will become a yearly tradition! The First Annual Basin Bowshoot will take place on the grounds of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church as a final tuneup before the archery hunting season begins. Shooters will have the opportunity to compete on a course made up of 3D targets of various wildlife, both exotic and ordinary. Experienced archer Johnny Crosby, who operates Moselle Archery out of Moselle, Mississippi, will set up the course and promises a challenging but fun day. There is no pre-registration required. On-site registration will begin at 8:30 AM, with a shotgun start at 9:30. Water will be provided on the course. Registration is $20 for adults and $15 for students of high school age and below. Mississippi Archery Association guidelines will be observed.
Pulled poor sandwich plates consisting of a sandwich made with locally smoked pulled pork, chips, a dessert, and a drink, will be available for purchase for an additional $10.
All proceeds from registration and pulled pork sandwich plates will benefit the outreach ministries of Pleasant Hill UMC. The outreach ministries you will help support include backpack buddies at L.C. Hatcher Elementary School, which enables students experiencing food insecurity to have food sent home with them every weekend. Additional ministries include a foster parent support group, youth activities, and more.
